FAQ - Self treatment for common illnesses

There are many common illnesses for which you do not need to see a Doctor. Click here to bring up a list of some common symptoms and the treatment you can try at home.

It may help to try these treatments for 2–3 days before going to see a Doctor.

If you have an illness that you are particularly worried about, or that does not settle, or that is getting worse then you should contact the Surgery in the usual way.

You may find it easier to have some of the medicines available at home all the time, as these common illnesses often occur when the chemist is shut. The medicines we have outlined (Family Medicine Chest) are only general. You may find you have your own particular way of dealing with some problems.
